A 450-bed quaternary hospital in Chromepet, Chennai, opened in 2018 and built around Prof. Mohamed Rela's liver transplant programme. Almost a third of its beds are critical care, which is what a transplant or a liver failure case needs and what most hospitals do not have.

Before you compare them

What each hospital does for a patient arriving from Dhaka is set out on its own page

Visas, airport transfer, interpreters, estimates, insurance and accommodation, under the same six headings on every hospital page — and left visibly blank where the hospital publishes nothing, rather than filled in from what a sister hospital happens to offer. The differences are real: only one hospital here says it keeps Bengali interpreters, one publishes its international page in Bengali, and none of them says a Bangladeshi insurance policy will be billed directly.

Our standard

How a hospital ends up on this page

Most hospitals on this page are ones we have a signed representation or referral agreement with, and whose international patient desk we deal with directly. Where treatment support for a centre runs through a named partner channel instead — as with Apollo Proton Cancer Centre via Bangla Health Connect — that hospital's own page says so. We would rather publish a short list we can answer for than a long one we cannot.

A signed agreement, not a handshake

Scope, responsibilities and the referral process are documented before a single patient is introduced.

Accreditation we can point to

We publish each hospital's stated accreditations rather than gesturing at 'international standards'.

The diagnosis picks the hospital

Where a case is better handled at a centre we do not represent, we say so. A referral we should not have made costs more than the one we did not make.

Where a case is better handled somewhere we do not represent, we say so and route it to the right hospital — the recommendation follows the diagnosis, never the fee.
