About the hospital
Why we refer here
A cancer hospital network and nothing else, which is the point. HCG has done one disease since 1989, and for a leukaemia or a bone marrow transplant that focus is the whole reason to travel here rather than to a general hospital with an oncology department.
HealthCare Global Enterprises Limited opened as the Bangalore Institute of Oncology in 1989 and now runs 25 hospitals in 19 Indian cities across 10 states, plus a cancer centre in Nairobi — the first Indian company to open one in Africa — with more than 400 oncologists. Those are the figures it filed with the stock exchanges for the year to March 2026, and we publish them with their date because its own pages simultaneously say 22 comprehensive cancer centres and 25. Twenty of its centres hold NABH accreditation and two more are NABH certified, which is the number that matters more than the total: HCG is not "NABH accredited" as a network, so the right question about any referral here is which unit the case goes to, and that is what we settle in writing before anyone travels. For a Bangladeshi family that question has an unusually clean answer, because HCG receives international patients at five named centres and one of them is Kolkata. The haemato-oncology and transplant programme is why most of our referrals come here: autologous, allogeneic, haploidentical and cord blood transplants, HEPA-filtered positive-pressure isolation rooms, an on-site stem cell processing and cryopreservation laboratory, a dedicated apheresis unit, and CAR T-cell therapy for certain blood cancers. What we do not publish is the transplant count from HCG's international BMT campaign page, because it appears nowhere in the company's filings and we cannot establish what it counts. This is the second single-speciality hospital on this page — for a cancer case it is the deeper choice, and for anything else it is the wrong one, which we will say plainly.

What HCG says about medical travel partners
“Reach out via our website, mobile app, or through our trusted medical tourism partners.”
That sentence is an invitation rather than the warning Apollo prints, and we would rather show you what it does and does not mean than lean on it. What it means is that HCG expects some international patients to arrive through a partner and has built its process around that. What it does not mean is that HCG has one partner in Bangladesh, or that being named on this page makes us it — other companies here work with HCG too, and at least one publicly describes itself as HCG's Bangladesh office. So hold us to the same standard we ask of everyone: every case we send is registered with the hospital in writing before the first appointment, you pay HCG directly at HCG's own rates, and if you want that confirmed at HCG's end, ask us and we will put you in touch with the international care officer handling your case.

Worth reading if you have been quoted for robotic or radiation treatment — the platform used changes both the approach and the price.
Radixact X9 TomoTherapy
Helical radiotherapy that treats along the length of a target, installed at HCG Kolkata in 2018 — which the group states was the first Radixact in India, and which matters here because Kolkata is its closest centre to Dhaka.
Ethos adaptive radiation therapy
Re-plans a course of radiotherapy against the anatomy in front of it rather than a scan taken weeks earlier. HCG states it was the first centre in India to introduce it, in 2023.
Elekta Unity MR-LINAC
An MRI scanner and a linear accelerator in one machine, so the beam follows the tumour's position on the day. HCG installed it at its new North Bengaluru facility, not across the network.
CyberKnife
Robotic stereotactic radiosurgery for tumours needing a very tight margin, such as brain, spine and lung lesions. HCG introduced it from 2009.
Digital PET-CT
HCG states it brought the first digital PET-CT to India in 2020, and was the first private cancer centre in the country to run a cyclotron and PET-CT in 2008.
Stem cell laboratory & apheresis
A stem cell processing and cryopreservation laboratory and a dedicated apheresis unit support the transplant programme, harvesting and storing grafts on site.
International patients
What HCG's international patient services actually do
HCG does not run this at all 25 hospitals: it names five centres that receive international patients — Bengaluru, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, and two in Mumbai — and a family should settle which one before booking anything. Beyond that it publishes more about the practical machinery of the trip than anyone else here, with separate pages for visas, travel, currency and insurance, and it is the only hospital on this page that says it keeps Bengali interpreters of its own.
Visa and invitation letters
A personalised medical visa invitation letter covering the patient and their attendants, and help assembling the FRRO registration papers — passport and visa originals and copies, and the Form C from both the hospital and the hotel. HCG says it tracks the application and can push an urgent case along.
Airport transfer and arrival
Complimentary airport pick-up at every centre that runs international patient services, with a representative meeting the family and taking them on to the hospital or the hotel. This is the only airport service on this page stated as free and stated without a caveat about which centres.
Language and interpreters
HCG states it keeps Bengali, Arabic and French interpreters for the duration of treatment. It is the only hospital on this page with Bangla speakers of its own rather than a translated web page, and that is a real difference worth weighing. Our coordinators still travel with the family — here they work alongside the hospital's own rather than filling a gap.

Insurance
HCG names three insurance partners it can bill directly — Emirates Insurance, BUPA International and New India Assurance. None of them is a Bangladeshi insurer, so for almost every family reading this the honest answer is that you pay HCG directly. HCG says its staff will coordinate with your insurer to establish what is covered, and we will ask them to before you commit.
Accommodation
HCG recommends hotels near the hospital, across budgets, and will help extend the stay if the treatment runs long. Recommends, not books — the booking is ours to make.
Five centres, not twenty-five
International patients are received at Bengaluru, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and two Mumbai centres. Kolkata is by far the closest to Dhaka, and is the one most of our referrals go to.
Fit to travel, and after
A fit-to-travel certificate for the journey home, then follow-up video consultations and monitoring from Bangladesh.
Its Bangladesh page does not load
HCG's visa page says it gives country-specific assistance to patients from Bangladesh, and links to a Bangladesh page that returns Page Not Found. The only Bangladesh contact it prints is the Indian High Commission's own visa help address in Dhaka, which is a government service and not an HCG desk. Useful to know, and another reason the Dhaka end of this is ours.
